The day had finally come to an end.

What a relief a simple turning of the hands could bring. The teacher sealed the door behind her and slumped into her chair, after a deep exhale the only sound left was one of her favourites.

Silence.

After a moment though, Jenna's natural state took over and she straightened her posture and position, crossing her legs and looking out over the empty classroom. Brown eyes travelled down to her desk; she was halfway through marking and had resolved to have them done before the day's end. Jenna had fallen short of that particular goal, but amends could be made by clearing the task before she headed home.

As she was about to lift a marker however, her eyes landed on an oddity. A shining red apple rested on her desk - beside it a typed note. Her brow furrowed, to conceal a person's handwriting perhaps? The woman almost rolled her eyes at herself; she was too paranoid sometimes.

"For all your hard work. Don't forget to take a load off every now and then."

No signee, no indication of who left it - a student? A colleague? The woman couldn't be sure.

The fruit felt cool and heavy in her hands as she lifted it from the desk, eyeing it with an actively suppressed amount of suspicion. Part of her wanted to toss it in the trash, but then her mind travelled to those exams she still had to mark. If she indulged slightly, she could put that dreary work off if only for a few minutes...

And besides, it had been a day - and the note's advice hung in her mind.

With a shrug, Jenna hefted the fruit towards her and took a bite from her gift, a satisfying crunch filling the silent classroom.
