You were just an ordinary young man in your mid-twenties—until your world crumbled alongside your receding hairline. Early-onset male pattern baldness stripped away not only your confidence but also your social life, relationships, and self-worth.

Desperate for a solution, you stumble upon a miracle treatment promising to restore your hair and transform your life. But the changes it brings go far beyond what you expected. As the treatment takes hold, your body, mind, and very identity begin to shift in ways you could never have imagined. The shadowy corporation behind your transformation has its own agenda, and soon, you find yourself entangled in a conspiracy deeper than you ever thought possible.

The choices you make will shape not just your future, but also the lives of those around you. Will you embrace your new existence, forging meaningful connections and discovering an unexpected sense of self? Or will you seek the truth behind what has been done to you, uncovering the secrets of the company that changed your fate, and maybe finding a way to reverse it?

Gameplay & Structure

The story begins with a "on rails" structured prologue and first act, introducing what led to the treatment, the transformation arc and setting the stage for the decisions to come. During this, your journey can branch into different paths, each leading to different relationships, experiences, and possible early endings.

Past the first month, the game starts it's Act 2. It begins to open up into a more sandbox inspired experience, allowing you more freedom to explore your new life while not giving so much freedom you become aimless. Some days will be pivotal, advancing the main story in a scripted way like in Act 1, while others will let you navigate social dynamics, uncover hidden adventures, or even build a social media following. Every choice matters, and your actions will have lasting consequences.

Author's Note

Thank you for joining me on this journey in A Hair Loss Treatment. This is my first major project written in Twine, inspired by various interactive stories I've enjoyed, as well as RPGs, tabletop games and pop culture. While I may not be the most seasoned writer, I hope to create a unique, immersive and British experience for players.

To enhance the narrative, I’ve included a mix of borrowed and original drawings (consistent to the borrowed images style) to complement the story and give a visual window into the world I have created.

My goal is to chronicle roughly a year of the protagonist’s life, with multiple endings and early conclusions based on choices. At present, around two months of the story and three early ends are complete along with a lot of the open world activities and discoverable opportunities with much more planned. While the main plot points are roughly mapped out, there’s still room for so much additional side content and player-driven developments.

Side Adventures Update

Side content dead end for Hike's with Grant and Art classes with Rosie are now removed as content is now implemented.

Hikes:

Easy Route always available. Completing it unlocks Scramble and Beast routes.
In certain weather conditions and during later pregnancy dangerous routes are locked off.
Each route has specific events.
If the primary event doesn’t trigger, a generic event occurs on the way down.
Weather affects the hikes with variations to events and/or additional content
Custom artwork for all events
Interactions with Grant also vary depending on relationship status.
Art Classes:

Take an art class focusing on Life Drawing
Take an art class focusing on Pottery.
Choice to take lessons seriously and try your hardest, or let loose and mess around with Rosie for the schoolgirl experience.
Life drawing models aren’t always reliable — if no one shows up, you’ll have to do still life… unless you’re willing to step in yourself.

Interactions with Rosie also vary depending on relationship status.
Funfair:

Enroute home from the Hike or Art class there is the choice to spend your evening at a funfair with Grant or Rosie.
First visits are scripted until all attractions have been visited once, after which it is player choice with chance variations.

Fortune Teller – visit with Rosie while in a relationship.
Duck Shoot – visit with Grant while in a relationship.

Mirror Maze – visit with Rosie, friends only.
Bumper Cars – visit with Grant, friends only.
Tunnel of Love – available with both characters if you’re dating them.
Carousel - replaces rides unsafe for expecting mothers in later pregnancy.

Act 1 additional short branch to shopping for your first bra when going with Rosie.

General bug fixes and polish.
Content Adjustments:

Removed reference to Alex Jones/Infowars in Act 1 where Grant talks about conspiracies around Mahila; replaced with general “YouTube conspiracy rabbit hole”.
Pregnancy Adjustments:

Fertility now depends on an implemented menstrual cycle.
Lower chances post-period and week before next period and higher chances during ovulation.
Added subtle morning/night routine flavour text indicating cycle stage.
