Actually, the entire spindle system is broken. the spindle effects are supposed to reset after a time cycle (wait for evening), but they don't reset. So you can no longer use the spindle events breaking the core system of the game

The game works like rock paper scissors. It's completely possible to win your battles and keep her from being raped. I did it. There are hints to how the goblins will attack in what she says, but it's in Japanese. Just pay attention to what the goblins previous attacks were and you should be able to counter them on your next turn since they will almost always choose the same attack it seems.

That's what goblins do. The pond ambush in this game is totally avoidable if you take a detour and kill the goblin hiding behind the cliff before he can throw whatever it does at you. Even if you fall for that ambush and the goblin forces you down while you're in the pond taking a bath, the main character can still fight back and not get raped if you read the goblins reactions. Goblin tries to insert? Defend by kicking him in the balls. Goblin looks at her smugly? Struggle and bash that green fuckers teeth in. It's not that hard to figure out.
