You must save just before the scene. Download the public version from the patreon page, copy the saved file in this folder, complete the scene, save and copy the saved file into the last version folder of the game and continue playing.

The bug part is 'bugged', as is the telescope when trying to see eric's back yard. There is definitely some new content but it's hard to tell when I've seen it all or when there is a bug preventing progress. I would wait until 11.50 is fixed before continuing.
